The Heimatmuseum Merkendorf (Museum of local history Merkendorf) provides a varied insight into the former life, living and work in a small agrarian town. In the tithe barn dating from 1726, handicraft tools and products, evidence of popular piety, textiles, household goods and agricultural implements document the town's history, such as Merkendorf's former position as a cabbage metropolis or its importance as a weaving town.
