Kolbermoor's history is inextricably linked with the cotton mill that was founded here in 1860 and marked the beginning of industrialisation in the Mangfall Valley. Now it is a case for the museum, as operations ceased in 1993. In addition to the history of the spinning mill, the museum is also dedicated to the topic of "moor and peat", another important source of income for the people of Kolbermoor. Exhibits on the development of the town complement the local history section.
