The New Treasury is rightly named because it houses a very special world-class treasure: the so-called "Golden Horse Inn" - only 62 cm high, but magnificently decorated with precious stones, pearls and enamel, this golden Marian altar from 1404 is a unique masterpiece of French goldsmith's art. But the museum in the immediate vicinity of the Chapel of Grace also has a lot to offer. On an area of 1000 m², thousands of rosaries and pieces of jewellery bear witness to over 500 years of Marian devotion and pilgrimage in Altötting. The exhibition ranges from the roots of pilgrimage itself to pilgrimage in Bavaria and the history of Altötting as a place of grace. Simple votive offerings and pictures as well as numerous devotional objects find their place here, as do other valuable art treasures - such as a cross made of ivory and lapis lazuli or a silver cot - which show the former wealth of Altötting, which was created through the veneration of Mary. Finally, the museum is dedicated to the last papal visits in 1980 and 2006. The bishop's ring of Pope Benedict XVI hanging from the sceptre of the Mother of Grace in the Chapel of Grace, as well as a rosary given by him, once again emphasise the importance of the place of pilgrimage and the devotion to Mary associated with it.
