The Haus des Deutschen Ostens (HDO) in Munich, founded in 1970, documents the culture, history and regional studies of Germans from Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. It offers exhibitions, readings, lectures and seminars and is a meeting place for the citizens of Bavaria and international guests. With over 75,000 media units in its specialised library, the HDO makes an important contribution to preserving and communicating the cultural heritage of displaced persons and late repatriates.
