Haus der Geschichte Dinkelsbühl (House of History Dinkelsbühl)
The "Haus der Geschichte Dinkelsbühl - von Krieg und Frieden" (House of History Dinkelsbühl - of War and Peace) in the Altes Rathaus (Old city hall) is dedicated to the search for traces of the town's 800-year history. Dinkelsbühl's eventful history spans from its rise as an important imperial town in the Middle Ages to its decline during the Thirty Years' War and the loss of its immediacy in the Napoleonic Wars. The equal coexistence of Catholics and Protestants after the Peace of Westphalia is just as much a theme as Dinkelsbühl's importance as a textile town. The exhibition is rounded off by the rediscovery of the town by Munich painters at the turn of the 20th century and a miniature model of Dinkelsbühl's old town.
