More than 170 years of photographic history are comprehensively presented with the help of historical photographs on the city's history, a camera collection of over 600 devices from all periods and areas of application, and the presentation of early photographic processes. A highlight is the Gallery of Contemporary Photography. The image examples presented here from the beginning of the 1920s to the present day illustrate the different positions and areas of application of photography. Topics such as portraiture, travel, documentation, fashion, advertising and journalism are presented with impressive original works by internationally renowned photographers. Space is also given to the experimental potential of photography. Another focus is on the development of contemporary artistic photography and its current positions.
