In the Grafisches Kabinett in the Höhmannhaus (Graphic Cabinet in the Höhmann House), visitors can view excerpts from the rich treasure trove of the Graphic Collection, which is housed in the neighbouring Schaezlerpalais (Schaezlerpalais). With over 45,000 works on paper, the collection is an important part of the Augsburg art collections and museums. The sheets include many hand drawings, copper engravings and etchings from the 16th to the 19th century. Loan requests from all over the world demonstrate the high status of the collection within the international museum community. As the cultural heritage of the city of Augsburg, the collection is of inestimable value, as works by almost all the artists and publishers active here can be found here. It represents the visual memory of Augsburg's artistic production over the past 500 years, as it preserves not only examples of free art with historical pieces, religious scenes, portraits, landscapes, still lifes, interiors, etc., but also of the applied arts with architectural sketches, technical drawings, designs for all kinds of arts and crafts, pattern sheets with decorative elements or iconographic models. The changing exhibitions in the Grafisches Kabinett represent the richness of the Augsburg collection as well as the high position that the imperial city once held in the field of humanism and art production.
