Glockenschmiede - Hammerschmiede-Museum (Bell Smithy - Hammersmith Museum)
A water wheel with a diameter of 3.80 metres drives the old hammer mill with its three heavy tail hammers. Cowbells were the main product of the bell smithy, but tools were also manufactured and ground here. You can still see how today in one of the last hammer forges in Bavaria. First mentioned in the middle of the 17th century, it has been a listed building since 1936 and was in operation until 1958. A permanent exhibition on the history, technology and products of the forge was created to mark the 100th birthday of the last master. An original film from 1955 about the last cowbell order shows the working world of the time. Tourists were already visiting the bell smithy in the 1950s. Travellers' souvenirs were forged for them, as you can still buy them here today.
