You can hardly do it in one day: With 1.3 million collected objects, the Deutsches Nationalmuseum (German Museum) is the largest cultural history museum in the German-speaking world. The spectrum of the 25,000 originals on display ranges from prehistory and early history to contemporary art and culture. From Stone Age hand axes to contemporary design objects, from the mysterious "Gold Cone of Ezelsdorf" from the Bronze Age to paintings by Dürer, Altdorfer and Rembrandt or sculptures by Tilman Riemenschneider. In addition, there are historical musical instruments, folklore, scientific instruments and evidence of pharmacy and medicine, crafts and guilds, weapons, arts and crafts, toys, textiles, and, and, and ...The total of 23 collection areas require a lot of space, and so the GNM is also one of the very large museums in the world in terms of area.
