Gentil-Haus (Gentil House)
Important information:
The Aschaffenburg factory owner Anton Gentil (1867-1951) bequeathed to his hometown not only his extensive art collection, but also the building he had built for his collection in 1922/23 according to his own designs: An original "collector's house" whose idiosyncratic style and special atmosphere are to be understood from the tradition of "artists' houses" and the Arts and Crafts movement.
The rooms, some of which Gentil furnished himself, contain paintings, medieval altars and sculptures, stoneware, glassware, chests, folk art, East Asian objects and modern art.
