Today's impressive castle complex largely dates back to the time of Anton Fugger, who acquired the dominion of Babenhausen in 1538. Today, the ancestral hall with family portraits from the 16th and 17th centuries and the Fugger Museum are open to the public. In the twelve rooms of the museum, testimonies of goldsmith's art, glass, porcelain, sculptures, weapons, books, furniture and sacred art objects document six centuries of family and thus also European history, which was significantly influenced by the Fuggers, especially during the Renaissance.
