Franck-Haus (Franck House)
The rococo patrician house built in 1745 by Franz Valentin Franck, a wealthy wine merchant, still characterises the townscape today. Franck had two half-timbered houses joined together and extended them to form the façade. The ground floor rooms were used for the wine trade, with the living quarters above. The old wine cellar is accessible from the inner courtyard. The Franck House houses exhibitions of regional art and historical exhibits from the museum depot and town archives. Highlights also include the smallest handwritten book in the world and other small works of writing by Valentin Kaufmann. A historical blacksmith's workshop can be visited as a permanent exhibition in an adjoining building.
