Flößermuseum Unterrodach (Raft Museum Unterrodach)
The Franconian Forest offered favourable conditions for timber trading and rafting thanks to its abundance of forests and many watercourses. For over 800 years, the Franconian Forest raftsmen supplied the Main and Rhine regions as far as Holland with timber. The so-called raft lords became wealthy and influential, which can still be seen today in the numerous listed raft lords' houses in Unterrodach. Just how hard and dangerous life was for the simple raftsmen and raftsmen is vividly illustrated in the rafting museum, including a documentary film about rafting from 1930 to the present day.
