Erinnerungsort Neuaubing (Neuaubing Place of Remembrance)
The forced labour camp in Neuaubing was one of over 400 collective accommodations for forced labourers in Munich during the Nazi era. It was set up by the Reichsbahn in 1942 and was used until 1945 to house up to 1,000 people who had been deported from various European countries. They had to work at the nearby Neuaubing repair works (RAW). After the war, the history of the camp fell into oblivion until civic engagement made it visible again.
Today, eight barracks have been preserved. The site is open to the public. Barrack 5 can currently only be visited as part of a tour, and exhibitions, events, workshops and seminars will be held in two of the buildings and in the outdoor area in the future. Even before the opening, which is planned for 2025, there is a lot to discover - on site and digitally.
