Domschatz Regensburg (Regensburg Cathedral Treasury)
A delicate butterfly, just 5 cm wide, shows a complete crucifixion scene on its brightly coloured wings - this marvel of goldsmith's art, made around 1310/20, is just one of many astonishing objects in the Regensburg Cathedral Treasury Museum. The treasury pieces from the Middle Ages and modern times can be discovered in the historic rooms of the former episcopal residence. These include high-quality goldsmith's work, such as the richly decorated Prague St. Otto's Cross from the 13th century and the famous enamel box (probably around 1400, France) with mythical creatures and 11,000 gold stars, as well as vestments in the finest gold embroidery.
