document Neupfarrplatz (document Neupfarrplatz)
Roman officers' quarters, Jewish quarter, Catholic place of pilgrimage, Regensburg's first Protestant parish church ... today's Neupfarrplatz has been inhabited for 2000 years. Its varied history was uncovered during a large-scale excavation: at a depth of 6 m the remains of the Roman camp, above it the fragments of the Jewish synagogue destroyed in 1519. Today, you can descend into (or through) history into the "document Neupfarrplatz" (document Neupfarrplatz), where a multimedia presentation amidst the building remains makes this place come alive again. The centrepiece of the presentation is the reconstruction of some parts of the Jewish quarter. The former location of the synagogue is also marked by a floor relief of its ground plan on the surface of the square.
