Deutsches Schustermuseum (German Cobbler Museum)
Burgkunstadt was long considered the shoe capital of Bavaria. Shoemakers' workshops were already located here in the late Middle Ages, and the first shoe factory was founded in 1888. Until the 1960s, most of the population was employed in the shoe industry. In 1990, the last shoe factory ceased production. In eight rooms, the Schuster Museum shows the manufacture of shoes, the different materials and the development of functions and fashions, but also the importance of shoe production for the city.
