Deutsches Hirtenmuseum (German Shepherd Museum)
Cattle herders played a major role in Middle Franconia until the 20th century. The only special museum in Germany that focuses on the relationship between humans and grazing animals shows exhibits from Franconian and worldwide pastoral culture. You can see clothing, tools, instruments and handicrafts. With the colourfully painted wooden bell bows, the museum offers a regional speciality. It is explained what use people have made of animals kept at the house for thousands of years. Other topics include the total utilisation of a cow in our time as well as stable keeping and feeding in change. In the museum's urban history section, everything revolves around the historical fire extinguishing system, hop cultivation and the development of lighting. A working lithography press and a shop built true to the original bring the past to life.
