DASMAXIMUM KunstGegenwart (Museum of Contemporary Art)
DASMAXIMUM in Traunreut offers major works of contemporary art, away from the hustle and bustle of the big museums. Behind the brightly coloured facades of the former factory halls, it displays its rich collection of works by four renowned German and American artists: Georg Baselitz, John Chamberlain, Walter De Maria, Dan Flavin, Imi Knoebel, Uwe Lausen, Andy Warhol and Maria Zerres. These close companions of gallery owner and art collector Heiner Friedrich continue to influence a wide variety of art movements such as Pop Art, Minimalism, Conceptual Art, Land Art and new expressive figuration. On the one hand, this provides a representative view of art between 1960 and today, while on the other, the artists' works can be experienced in the context of individual phases of their lives or as an overall view of their life's work. As a daylight-only museum, DASMAXIMUM offers the opportunity to rediscover the works of art again and again in the changing light of the day and seasons.
