Carl-Millner-Galerie (Carl Millner Gallery - Romantic landscape dreams)
The Carl Millner Gallery in the Mindelheim museums is a tribute to the landscape painter of the Munich School, Carl Millner. The gallery presents an extensive collection of his works, which began in the 1970s with the acquisition of a painting by Millner and has been steadily expanded thanks to the support of sponsors and private patrons. Millner's works, which capture romantic landscape dreams of the 19th century, show idealised depictions of country life and alpine pictorial themes, often highlighted by an impressive use of light. The exhibition includes oil paintings, watercolours, drawings and sketches that illustrate not only Millner's artistic development, but also the techniques of Romantic landscape painting. Visitors to the gallery can immerse themselves in the world of romantic landscape painting and experience the beauty of nature through Millner's eyes. The gallery also offers insights into the life of the artist, who was born as Heinrich Karl Preckle in Munich and later adopted the pseudonym Carl Millner. His works are a testimony to his travels and studies in Switzerland, Austria, Tyrol, Lower Bavaria and Italy, which significantly influenced his painting. The Carl Millner Gallery is not only a place of art, but also a place of history and reflection on the relationship between man and nature.
