Brechthaus (Brecht House)
Bertolt Brecht's birthplace is a craftsman's house typical of old Augsburg, the core of which dates back to the 16th century. A permanent exhibition was set up here in 1998 to mark the 100th anniversary of the poet's birth. Exhibits and documents, especially from his time in Augsburg, as well as video installations bring Brecht's personality and work to life. Valuable originals, such as Brecht's mother's bedroom, first editions of his works, a stage design model from 1949 and representations of Brecht in artworks by his stage designer Caspar Neher and other contemporaries round off the collection.
