Bergbau- und Industriemuseum Ostbayern auf Schloss Theuern (Mining and Industrial Museum of Eastern Bavaria at Theuern Castle)
"Ruhr area of the Middle Ages" - the greater Amberg-Sulzbach area owes this nickname to its rich ore deposits, which brought it economic prosperity early on. The importance of this region on the Bavarian Iron Road is also evidenced by the Hammerherr castle in Theuern, built in 1781. Today it is home to the Mining and Industry Museum. In sections such as "Mineral Raw Materials", "Mining Life" or "Industrialisation", it illuminates numerous aspects of mining and industry in the entire eastern Bavarian region. The museum area also includes three other industrial monuments typical of the region that have been transferred to Theuern: an iron hammer mill, a shaft plant and a glass grinding and polishing plant, which also houses the East Bavarian Electricity Museum.
