Benediktinerabtei Weltenburg - Besucherzentrum im Felsenkeller (Benedictine Abbey Weltenburg - Visitor Center in the Rock Cellar)
A Benedictine abbey founded in the 7th century under legendary circumstances, a world-famous Baroque church with which the Asam brothers founded their fruitful collaboration, and the unique Danube breakthrough form a very special ensemble to which the visitor centre in the historic Felsenkeller is dedicated. In a walk through history, the exhibition tells of prehistoric times as well as of the first monks' cell on the Danube beach or life on the large construction site of the 18th century for the Asam Church, but also of why the Benedictines live in convinced faith in Weltenburg today. And it invites you to discover why the purity of the local water is not only the secret of the palatable monastery drink.
