Secret capital of beer, that's what Kulmbach likes to call itself and is thus made for the location of the Bayerisches Brauereimuseum (Bavarian Brewery Museum). On medieval monastery grounds - combined with centuries of brewing tradition - visitors experience the art of brewing beer on 3000 m², from the Egyptians to today's high-tech beer production. An amphora from around 1400 BC is considered the oldest evidence of beer brewing in Germany. Interactive stations bring the museum to life, and a journey through the world of beer advertising leads to the boiler and machine house of the former Mönchshof brewery and a four-storey brewery from the turn of the century. The highlight is the small museum brewery, where you can look over the master brewer's shoulder as he works.
