Experimental archaeology to experience and relive. In the archaeological open-air museum Bajuwarenhof, a Bajuwar settlement of the 6th century is gradually being created. The special feature: in the form of a long-term scientific experiment, the buildings are constructed according to regional archaeological findings, as far as possible with tools that are true to the original and only with materials that were available in the Munich gravel plain at the time. The aim is also to show that there is no one "ideal type", but many possible interpretations in the reconstruction of archaeological findings - and not only in the case of buildings. In this way, the visitor can experience the complexity of early medieval everyday life through buildings, gardens and workshops as well as clothing and everyday objects.
