Archäologisches Museum Donauwörth (Archaeological Museum Donauwörth)
Even Neanderthals lived along the Danube and Wörnitz, as the discovery of a 70,000-year-old hand axe testifies. In a chronological tour, the Archaeological Museum documents the history of settlement in the district of Donau-Ries from the Palaeolithic Age to the Alamanni. On display are finds such as Roman terracottas or the components of a magnificent suit of armour from the late Bronze Age and a Roman travelling chariot, as well as a replica of a Roman soldier's equipment. Other topics include prehistoric and early historical technology, restoration methods and aerial archaeology.
