Friends of ancient Greek vases will find what they are looking for at the university's Collection of (Classical) Antiquities.

In addition, numerous other ancient pottery objects and small-scale works of art and craft are on display. With a total of around 700 original ancient objects, the museum offers an overview of the development of cultures in the Mediterranean region from Troy to the Roman imperial period. The focus is on Greek pottery from the 6th and 5th centuries BC, especially the richly decorated vases from Athens.

The plaster cast gallery, the original core of the collection founded in 1857, shows around 150 larger sculptures and statues.
