Altes Rathaus Bamberg (Old City Hall Bamberg)
Important information:
The Old Town Hall is characterised by its diverse architectural forms and its unique location in the Regnitz. According to legend, the bishop refused the citizens a building site, whereupon they created an artificial island in the Regnitz. Inside, the town hall houses the Ludwig Porcelain Collection, an important private collection of Peter and Irene Ludwig. The exhibition showcases the craftsmanship of the Meissen manufactory and the diversity of its shapes and decorations. Special exhibitions are also held regularly in the basement.
