MATCHBOX
Members' exhibition of the Forum for Jewellery and Design
20.04.2025 - 30.10.2025 ,
Zündholzmuseum Grafenwiesen (Match Museum Grafenwiesen)
The Forum for Jewellery and Design is a guest at Zündholzmuseum Grafenwiesen (Match Museum Grafenwiesen) with its MATCHBOX members' exhibition, presenting extravagant jewellery objects.
The exhibition shows how inspiring the dialogue between design and upcycling can be. The jewellery designers work with everyday marginalia: rosebud and cartridge case, computer circuit board and stone, horsehair, shrink tubing and more.
And the everyday product "matchbox" was given a special role: at the start of the event, all participants placed inspiring materials in an empty matchbox. Another member, selected by lot, was sent a "matchbox", gave free rein to their imagination and creativity and made an original object from the contents of the matchbox. Material could be added during the manufacturing process and the finished piece of jewellery, whether necklace, bracelet, ring, brooch, earring or pendant, had to fit back into the matchbox at the end. The container, the matchbox, could also be transformed into a special kind of jewellery box.
The Forum for Jewellery and Design e. V. has been in existence since 1984, is based in Cologne and addresses the interested public with various activities at national and international level.
