In the Bavarian-Bohemian Forest Mountains, as in many other marginal regions of Germany, animism is deeply rooted. For centuries, it has manifested itself in beliefs about supernatural, otherworldly beings and creatures.
Building on this, artists from all over the world are invited this year, as part of the 2026 International Glass Art Exhibition under the theme ‘Mystical Creatures and Mythical Beings’, to ‘explore’ the world of imagination and the supernatural through the art of glass and, ideally, to push the boundaries of glass art in the process. Above all, however, this exhibition aims to provide a platform for exploring the connection between nature, imagination and craftsmanship, and to open up new perspectives on traditional motifs.
