Shimmering honey-yellow glazes and balanced shapes characterise the pots, jugs, jars and jugs from the Renner pottery. The pottery has been producing utility ceramics for 140 years, playing a key role in establishing Thurnau's reputation as an outstanding centre for the art of pottery.
The Renner pottery was founded in 1884. Otto Renner, a journeyman potter from Naumburg in Silesia, married the daughter of the Thurnau-based "Häfner" Adam Münch, took over his workshop on today's Eckersdorfer Weg and gave it a new name: Töpferei Renner.
In 2024, the Renner pottery, which is still committed to the old craft techniques and the traditional range of moulds, can look back on five generations.
