Alle Zeit der Welt (All the Time in the World)
From Big Bang to Time of Day
27.12.2025 - 08.11.2026 ,
MammutMuseum Siegsdorf (Mammoth Museum)
Time determines our lives. Almost all of us are guided by the clock day in, day out - by deadlines and schedules. We take for granted how days, weeks, months and years pass - and realise that our own lifetime is limited. Time is therefore something quite commonplace, something that affects us all directly and yet is difficult or impossible for us to grasp or explain.
The exhibition "All the time in the world" is dedicated to this multifaceted topic and has been able to win over the well-known astrophysicist and science journalist Harald Lesch to accompany our visitors on their journey through time and space.
Numerous exhibits, spectacular images and stagings as well as hands-on objects and special children's stations make the exhibition an experience for young and old. A journey through time and space.
The exhibition takes us back to the beginning of all things - the Big Bang 13.8 billion years ago. This is not only the birth of the universe, which has been expanding ever since, but also the beginning of time itself. Ever larger and better telescopes allow us today not only to look into incredible distances, but also deeper and deeper into the past and thus into the early days of the universe.
The history of the Earth, which was formed around 4.55 billion years ago, forms the second part of the exhibition. Geological processes and their duration over time are presented using numerous exhibits and show how the earth is still in a constant process of change today. Fossils take us back to various periods in the Earth's history and show how life has also been constantly changing since its formation around 3.8 billion years ago.
In the end, even we will not be able to answer the question "What is time?" unequivocally. It is and remains a great mystery and no matter what we do, we cannot escape its effects. But it is also what keeps the world going...
An exhibition by the Museum Mensch und Natur (Museum Man and Nature) in Munich at the MammutMuseum Siegsdorf (Mammoth Museum).
