Gregor EsKa's time machines do not take us back in time or travel with us into the future. They conjure us back into the moment. They remind us that life has to be lived. Time machines that take us back to the beginning, namely to ourselves. To a place where it is worth laughing, marvelling and rediscovering ourselves.

These machines are sometimes powered by bicycle pedals, sometimes by hydrogen or fossil fuels - but their true source of energy is the power of faith.

Gregor EsKa believes in the beauty of the world, in the courage to be cheerful, and he travels the road of life as often as possible in a "Hoppserlauf" (hopping run). His latest series of works, "Time Machines", can be seen for the first time at the Städtische Galerie (Municipal gallery).
