Many generations have grown up with Otfried Preußler's children's book, which has lost none of its appeal to this day. Because everyone knows them, the cheerful adventures of Kasperl, Seppel and Constable Dimpfelmoser, who steal Grandma's coffee machine back from the robber Hotzenplotz. A "narrated Punch and Judy show between two book covers" as Preußler, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year, called it himself.

The exhibition is also characterised by the wonderful illustrations by Franz Josef Tripp. He gave the robber his distinctive big nose and his typical outfit. Other Otfried Preußler characters are also on display, such as the Little Witch, the Little Aquarius and the Little Ghost. A museum game also offers additional puzzle fun for all children and adults who are young at heart. The exhibition at the City Museum was created in co-operation with Thienemann-Esslinger Verlag Stuttgart.
