The Stadtmuseum Schwabach (Schwabach City Museum) is focussing on intangible cultural heritage in the photo exhibition KULTUR.ERBEN.
It shows 37 perspectives on diverse forms of expression, from glass blowing and ice swimming to snake worship. The works of renowned photographers and up-and-coming artists who took part in the 2018/19 Lagois photo competition illustrate how vibrant and important intangible cultural heritage is for everyone.
The exhibition offers insights into various traditions: Andreas Kreitmaier and Stephan Elsberger document the "Landshut Wedding", while Christina Czybik captures the traditional costumes of the Sorbs in Lusatia in Saxony. Fabian Tegeler portrays people on the "Mountain of Crosses" in Lithuania, and Jörg Gläscher shows the "Lutherland" in central Germany. Other highlights include the colourful costumes of the theatre ensemble in Ulaanbaatar and the ballet work for people with disabilities in Cuba.
In addition, the Schwabach gold beating craft, which was recognised as German cultural heritage in 2025, is presented in a special section.

All that glitters is not gold? At Stadtmuseum Schwabach (Schwabach City Museum) it is! The heart of the museum is a walk-in box covered in real gold leaf, which conceals a gold beating workshop....
