What do world footballer Gerd Müller and jazz legend Django Reinhardt have to do with Sinti families in Nördlingen?
The exhibition not only highlights examples from the region but also places them within the broader historical context. It offers fascinating insights into the culture and history of German Sinti and Roma, who have called not only Germany but also Swabia home for 600 years. This is suggested by historical chronicles. The Sinti and Roma minority in Swabia has experienced an eventful history marked by exclusion and expulsion, mutual curiosity and fascination, as well as self-empowerment and participation. The exhibition also highlights the dark chapter of Nazi tyranny and the accompanying genocide of the Sinti and Roma. Furthermore, it takes a special look at families from Nördlingen and their history.
