At regular intervals, the Kaufbeuren City Museum has its special exhibition space used by cultural actors from the city. In 2025, the Allgäu Pride group will be a guest at the Stadtmuseum. The association, which has existed since 2021, is committed to improving the visibility of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people in the Allgäu region, establishing dialogue, breaking down prejudices and promoting acceptance. As part of this year's Pride Month, various events and activities will take place throughout the Allgäu from 2 August to 6 September 2025.
The exhibition highlights important milestones in queer history and shows the path of the LGBTQIA+ movement from its beginnings in 1969 in the USA to today in rural Bavaria. In addition to the historical events, the exhibition will also focus on queer people who live in the Allgäu region today. Their stories, motivations and their commitment to the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community will be presented. This will show how the quest for equality is also being pursued in rural regions and what challenges and successes are being experienced in the process.
