1525: In the fields of the Allgäu, between monasteries, villages and forests, thousands rose up against oppression, serfdom and arbitrary rule. Their call for freedom was loud, but was quelled - and still has an impact today.

Almost 500 years later, the art project "Traces of the Peasants' War: An artistic journey to topographical sites of the Peasants' War of 1525" is looking for echoes and significance of this historic uprising. Three contemporary artists explored real locations in 2024/25: Wolfertschwenden, Buxheim and Ottobeuren became open stages for an artistic exploration of power, resistance and remembrance.
