The State Museum of Egyptian Art presents "Childhood on the Nile - Growing up in Ancient Egypt". This presentation, designed as a family exhibition, is aimed equally at children, young people and adults and aims to convey the living conditions and growing up of children in Ancient Egypt in contrast to the reality of life today. The exhibition paints a well-founded and differentiated picture of childhood in ancient Egyptian society and at the same time encourages reflection on modern childhood. Young visitors in particular should be made aware of their own current opportunities and possibilities, such as education, equal rights, legal security and medical care. By depicting the historical living environments, visitors can not only understand the challenges of the time, but also recognise today's opportunities as social achievements.
The exhibition is designed to be interactive and suitable for children: Knowledge is conveyed through original objects from Ancient Egypt, participative stations and a comprehensive accompanying programme. Visitors should not only receive information, but also experience a comprehensive engagement with the content through playful experiences and their own actions. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue and a children's booklet, which will prepare the content for a young audience and make it understandable through simple language and child-friendly illustrations. The accompanying programme also includes guided tours, lectures and workshops that are specially tailored to different visitor groups in order to appeal to a wide audience.
