In its special exhibition, the Siebold-Museum (Siebold Museum) is showing a wide range of valuable objects from private collections that deal with the theme of luck and lucky charms, especially turtles. These include large-format exhibits such as scroll paintings and kimonos, but also very small works of art that were attached to belts (inrō, netsuke) as well as textiles, wood, metalwork, lacquer and coloured woodcuts. The exhibition provides an exciting insight into the world of Japanese legends, which are still rooted in the culture today, and into the popular beliefs that are closely linked to Shinto.
