Since its invention in the 19th century, the bicycle has been valued as an inexpensive and independent means of transport and has enjoyed unbroken popularity.
The Deutsches Fahrradmuseum (German Bicycle Museum) has the most extensive and highest-quality collection of historical bicycles in Germany. The Swabian Open-Air Museum Illerbeuren will be showing some of the exciting exhibits during the 2024 museum season.
The annual exhibition uses unique two-wheelers to tell the story of cycling history. Different series models and individual pieces not only refer to technical developments and clever inventiveness, but also provide insight into fashion, contemporary tastes and historical circumstances.
The exhibition is designed interactively for young and old - for example, you can sit on a penny-farthing yourself and enjoy a completely new view.
