People, politics and beauty – these are the things that interest Daniel Biskup. The photographer, who lives in Augsburg and Berlin, is known for his documentary photography on contemporary history. At the Schaezlerpalais, he is now presenting a new facet of his work for the first time: portraits of artists.

The first of the exhibited photographs were taken as early as 1989 in Augsburg’s Glaspalast. At the time a ‘lost place’ of the textile industry, today it is the Kunsthalle Augsburg. Artists from the Augsburg scene such as Peter Lochmüller, Lisa Junghans and Martin Eder had their portraits taken there back then. Over the years, Ai Weiwei, Gilbert & George, Georg Baselitz and many others have joined them.
