To mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Jakob Fugger the Rich, the Augsburg Art Collections and Museums are organising a special exhibition on the rich art treasures from the Fugger era in cooperation with the Fürstlich und Gräflich Fuggersche Stiftungen. The exhibition, which will open on 11 December 2025, follows on from the highlight of the Fugger Foundations' commemorative year programme in winter 2025.
The art history exhibition focuses primarily on the importance of the Fuggers as key players and patrons of contemporary art production. Paintings that have not been on display for some time will be presented, as well as newly acquired jewellery, arts and crafts and graphic art. The Augsburg Art Collections and Museums' own holdings are supplemented by loans.
