Traditional costume is alive – it changes, adapts and is reinterpreted by each generation.
The exhibition anders beTRACHTet invites visitors to discover traditional clothing from unusual perspectives and to explore its diverse manifestations.
More than just a piece of clothing, traditional costume tells stories and reflects social developments. The meaning of the word has changed from "what is worn" or "the way it is worn" (Old High German draht, Middle Low German dracht) to the modern idea of a traditional dress code.
This exhibition opens up space for new perspectives – take a closer look!
