Within a Roman cemetery, archaeologists discovered a spectacular mass grave in Scupi (now Skopje in North Macedonia). 200 individuals were buried here at the transition to Late Antiquity. Forensic investigations, together with the archaeological findings, have provided fascinating insights into a turbulent period in the eastern part of the empire. Who were the people buried here, and how did they die?
