This year, the Bedaium Roman Museum in the municipality of Seeon-Seebruck is dedicating a special exhibition to the topic of "Ancient occupations in Bedaium".
The civilian settlement of BEDAIUM was characterised by the Roman road from IUVAVUM (Salzburg) to AUGUSTA VINDELICUM (Augsburg) and the bridge over the River Alz. Lake Chiemsee bordered the town to the south and a monumental stone temple to the god BEDAIUS stood in an elevated position above the lake. In the early and middle imperial period, the town developed into an important transport hub in the Alpine foothills due to its location on the most important east-west road link north of the Alps. This was due to the pilgrims travelling to the temple on the one hand and the people travelling on foot, on horseback or in carriages and transport carts on the other. Food and goods from the surrounding area and from all regions of the Roman Empire could be traded and purchased in the large marketplace of BEDAIUM and in the business and commercial district. Heavy goods were shipped to and from the AENUS (Inn) via the Alz. The town of BEDAIUM experienced a great boom after its foundation and offered its inhabitants many jobs. The variety of professions is reflected in the rich finds of Roman-Norse craftsmen, traders and service providers in the permanent exhibition of the Roman Museum Seebruck. These artefacts are in turn the focus of this year's special exhibition. Using specially created reconstructions and informative, short texts, the topic is brought to life and presented in an interesting way for young and old. In a life-size diorama, visitors can immerse themselves in the era and see ancient craftsmen at work. Hands-on stations for young and old invite visitors to get active themselves. A rich programme of events with museum tours, workshops, craft demonstrations and family days rounds off the annual programme. There is a lot to discover at the Roman Museum Seebruck.
VIVAT BEDAIUM!

The name Seebruck is no coincidence: there was already a bridge over the Alz at this location in Roman times - and one of the most important Roman settlements in Bavaria, Bedaium (named after Bedaius,...
