Karl-Heinz Weis (1927–2025) was one of the outstanding medical practitioners at Würzburg University Hospital. He excelled as an art historian with no less enthusiasm and astonishing expertise. For the Martin von Wagner Museum at the University of Würzburg, however, he was above all one thing: an exceptionally loyal, committed and generous patron.
Now the museum, which has benefited from his donations for decades, is exhibiting a selection of these works. They not only reflect Weis’s personal taste, but also offer an insight into his multifaceted understanding of art, which was always focused on the existential foundations of human existence.
Venue: Kleine Galerie, 2nd floor
Opening hours: Tue–Sat 1.30 pm – 5.00 pm; Sundays from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm every fortnight, coinciding with the opening hours of the Gemäldegalerie (see: https://www.martinvonwagner-museum.com/kalender)
