In the moving installation AugenBlicke the artist Georg Soanca-Pollak remembers children from Jewish families in Munich who were persecuted and murdered by the Nazis. Portrait photographs of the children are displayed on the facade and inside the Munich Documentation Center, filling the space with all their individuality, beauty, and innocence. The project enables us to encounter these children as people in the here and now., thus restoring their dignity and making their fates part of collective remembrance.
The installation is one of several events in a city-wide Munich program commemorating the November pogroms on November 9, 1938.
