Elisabeth Balwé-Staimmer is undoubtedly one of the great artists of the Chiemsee artistic landscape. As a pupil of Karl Caspar, she found her unmistakable style, which is expressed above all in colour. This is the basic chord for light and shadow, for the essential, for her love of people, of the simple things in life.
Any narrowness is alien to her large-format watercolours. She masters her pictorial themes in full brushstrokes. Joy and participation in everyday life bring about the irrepressible independence of her "genre paintings" and landscapes. Her works are a joy and participation in life, in beauty and the pleasures of existence. The Museum Prien (Museum Prien) is dedicating a special exhibition with around 30 works to the painter, whose art is unfortunately still overshadowed by her congenial husband Arnold Balwé (1898 - 1973), on the 50th anniversary of her death.
