Doll's houses and Christmas traditionally go well together! As much-coveted presents under the Christmas tree, they make the eyes of children of all ages light up. Resourceful manufacturers such as Bodo Hennig also bring the glamour of Christmas to doll's houses: with tiny Christmas trees, Advent wreaths, nativity scenes and small Christmas cakes or even an entire Christmas market in miniature format.
Bodo Hennig set up his own business as a manufacturer of doll's furniture in the Allgäu region in 1950. Always in tune with the times, he orientated his designs to current furnishing fashions. They uniquely reflect the changes in home decor between 1950 and 2000 in miniature. However, the trends can also be seen on a larger scale in the exhibition: Seven period rooms from five decades provide an insight into earlier living environments.
Just in time for the cold season, the rooms now also spread Christmas cheer: Christmas biscuits in the kitchen, a railway under the Christmas tree, a richly filled gift table and Christmas decorations ranging from straw stars to sequin baubles. Everywhere you look, the exhibition invites you to share your memories: Was there more tinsel in the old days? Supplemented by new activity stations, the visit is an experience for the whole family.
